Sky & Water in the Digital Age (after Escher)
"Sky and Water", in which birds and fish meet in a tessellation at the horizon line between the sky and the sea, is one of M.C. Escher's best-known prints. "Sky and Water in the Digital Age" pays homage to Escher's print and plays with the fact that the motifs in Robert Fathauer's tessellations are in reality just collections of pixels. In this case, the blurring of the line between sky and water is accomplished by increasing the pixel size as the horizon is approached.
